It's not the most popular season to tie the knot but winter weddings can be incredibly romantic and charming. Use the season to your advantage and choose a dramatic location with towering mountain peaks, waterfalls and snowy landscapes. There are advantages for this season - without the blazing sun light can be better for photos, the risk of sweatmarks is reduced, makeup and hair won't slide off your face and there's no risk of sunburn. In New Zealand there are plenty of floral options for a wintry wedding with Orchids, roses, carnations, freesias, alostromeria, Iris and so many other flowers in season. Choose jewel tones with greens to offset the white background or stick with white and pastels. Foliage is striking especially the use of pine and eucalyptus but your florist will have some excellent ideas. While champagne can be consumed at every season, try something different for the bar with mulled wine, whiskey tasting station, espresso martinis and hot chocolates with a twist. And there are plenty of creative ways to set the scene and keep guests happy. The other advantage of a winter wedding is being able to select dates with ease and you might even find some low season advantages for accomodation and activities.
