Knowing what kind of flowers you want for your wedding day can take some consideration and like all things, there are definite trends that change with the seasons. You might have a favourite type of flower, but availability will determine if it's feasible to use. M&N-164 460 Kelly started Blush twenty years ago after she left fashion design school as she loved the medium of flowers and quickly made it her career. "I'm basically self taught and feel that because of that Blush has always been unique and recognisable," she explains. "Over the years I have loved pushing the boundaries, trying new things and establishing a brand. I love the art of making flowers but now my focus is surrounding myself in talented florists that I can direct so I can focus more on the Blush brand which really excites me."

  2. What’s the most popular bridal bouquet at the moment? Phalaenopsis Orchids set into a lush cloud of Gypsophila. It’s so textual and it will never date and it photograph’s so well - we are all about how the florals will shoot.
  3. Do you see this changing for summer and how? I don’t see it changing for summer 2020/21 I think its a look that's here to stay for a while.
  4. How do most people choose their floral theme? We tend to start the design process with the colour palate and from there choose flower types that suit and that are in season with a floral style in mind.
  5. We’ve seen a lot of dry floral arrangements become trendy – what’s driven this? I think partly cost, as it is more cost effective to have dried floral, and the vibe - it can be very beautiful and etherial which is rather stunning. We like a little mix of fresh and dried - that way you still get the movement of fresh which again shoots so well.
  6. Which type of flowers are best for dry arrangements? Hydrangeas, Gypsophila, Amaranths, Limonium, Cress.©MichelleWeir-Blush-SeaviewRd-460©MichelleWeir-Blush-SeaviewRd-005-460
  7. What’s the most complicated & extravagent wedding arrangement you have ever done? Hands down the Hydrangea House - where we covered a porch in thousands of Hydrangea’s in Summer - so it was scary to keep to them fresh! But we did it and it was to die for.
  8. What’s your advice for those who want something beautiful but don’t have a large budget? Do one thing and do it well. Don’t try and spread it thin. As an example have a beautiful, memorable Ceremony floral and then simple candles on the table.
  9. How far in advance should a bride start planning her flowers? These days I would say 6 months.
  10. Have you done flowers for a baby shower and what have you done? Yes we sure have. Lots of soft blue spray painted florals…. totally cute.
